COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CANS, ASH AND GARBAGE, AND COVERS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description by all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description specifies extra-heavy duty, galvanized steel ash and garbage cans and can covers.
1.2 Classification. The ash and garbage cans and covers shall be of the following sizes:
Size 1-10 gallon (37.88 liter)
Size 2-16 gallon (60.5 liter)
Size 3-24 gallon (90.8 liter)
Size 4-32 gallon (121.1 liter)
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Construction. The ash and garbage cans and covers shall be designed for extra heavy duty use. The cans shall have reinforcing top and bottom bands as designed by the manufacturer. The cans shall have side handles or a bail as specified in the contract or order. The covers shall be designed with handles and fir securely on the can.
2.1.2 Material. The finished cans and covers shall be fabricated from pre-galvanized steel or carbon steel which is zinc coated after fabrication.
