PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION
CASE, MILITARY WATER CAN, INSULATED
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of
Defense (DoD).
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers the performance and acceptance requiremetns for an
insulated case for the 5-gallon military water can (see 6.1).
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS - None
3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article
inspection in accordance with 4.1.1.
3.2 Operating requirements. The insulated case shall satisfy the following user oriented
requirements.
3.2.1 Color. The insulated case shall be desert tan or olive drab as specified (see 6.2 and
6.5).
3.2.2 Means of carrying. The insulated case shall be designed to provide lifting and carrying
by an individual, when used as intended with the water can.
3.2.3 Accessibility to water can. The top (cover) of the insulated case shall provide a seal
when closed and be readily opened by an individual wearing arctic mittens.
