COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BASKET, FRAME MOUNTED
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification K-B-1069.
This commercial item description covers mobile, frame mounted folding utility hand carts, with removable, washable bag, for janitorial use.
Salient characteristics
A. Frame
(1) Capacity-
(a) Type I- 4 bushel
(b) Type II- 6 bushel
(2) Construction- tubular steel, 1 inch minimum 0.D
(3) Type- folding
(4) Restraining chain, or self-locking brackets, non-corrosive metal, attached to frame for easy folding and of the correct length
(5) A means to support the bag securely and allow for easy removal and reattachment
(6) Casters- four, 3 inch diameter, non-marking
(7) Workmanship-
(a) No rough edges on the frame or hardware
(b) No bent tubing due to damage
(c) No uneven coated surfaces, flaking, foreign matter imbedded in the finish
(d) Easy turning swivel casters
(e) No scratches, scuffs, or abraded surfaces exposing bare metal
(f) Easy overall operation of the unit
B. Bag
(1) Capacity-
(a) Type I- to carry a distributed load of 150 pounds, frame mounted
(b) Type II- to carry a distributed load of 200 pounds, frame mounted
(2) Material- denim, duck, or nylon reinforced vinyl, as specified
(3) Webbing handle, or draw cord, of sufficient strength to lift the bag and remove from the hand cart when loaded
(4) A means for easy attachment to and removal from the cart
(5) Workmanship-
(a) Cloth-
(1) No holes, cuts, tears, weak places, broken or missing yarns, multiple float, or open places clearly visible.
(2) Dyed cloth shall show fair color fastness to light, water, laundering and wet crocking
(3) No grease or oil stains
(b) Grommet- no unsecurely attached grommets or clinched excessively tight cutting cloth
(c) Webbing handle- securely attached at top corners of bag
(d) Draw cord-
(1) Securely attached at edge of the bag
(2) Operate freely
(e) Seams and Stitching-
(1) Thread ends neatly trimmed
(2) No open seams
(3) No raw edges
(4) No loose stitch tension resulting in loosely exposed top or bottom thread
(5) No tight stitch tension resulting in puckering or excessive tightness of cloth or seams
(6) Securely attached webbing handles
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
