COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TRUCK, TILT, MEDIUM-DUTY, MOBILE, PLASTIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description
This commercial item description covers tilt trucks for materials handling, laundry, waste removal, and meat or poultry handling.
Salient characteristics.
(1) Capacity = as specified, sizes are minimum
(a) One-half yd3, 750-lb load, two wheels- 10-inch diameter
(b) One yd3, 1,000 lb load, two wheels- 12-inch diameter
(2) Shape- rectangular or square with slanted front
(3) Material- polyethylene. Tilt trucks shall meet USDA and FDA regulations for food handling.
(4) Wheel and axle assembly size as specified above, mounted at edge of the base at the tilt-end.
(5) Casters- minimum of one at the opposite edge of the wheel and axle assembly and centered or two evenly spaced along the opposite edge.
(6) Two front flat iron radius legs or bent pipe radius legs attached to the base and front edge located such that they support the tilt truck when tilted to empty.
(7) A handle to push or pull, attached on the back side above the casters and just below the rim.
(8) Reinforced body and top rim.
Workmanship. Free from flash, blisters, cracks, chips, sharp fins, sharp edges, lumps, and embedded foreign material, and seams.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawing, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing and marking. Each tilt truck shall be packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
