COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

WASTE RECEPTACLE, DOME TOP, WITH SWINGING

DOOR, PLASTIC WITH LINER

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.

The waste receptacle shall conform to the following:

Salient characteristics:

(1)          Color- as specified

(2)          Capacity- 15- and 21- gallon (+1 gallon), size as specified

(3)          Shape- round, dome top

(4)          Material- high density polyethylene with ultraviolet inhibitors.

(5)          Dome top shall be hinged to the receptacle, or receptacle shall be a domed, one-piece,                                                slip over unit construction.

(6)          Single swing door, hinged to the dome with a method to hold the door shut when not in                                              use.

(7)          Liner- rigid liner or polyliner with a means to the polyliner, as specified

Workmanship.  Free from flash, blisters, cracks, chips, sharp fins, sharp edges, lumps, and embedded foreign material.

Certification.      The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawing, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

Recovered materials.     The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

Packaging, packing and marking.               The waste receptacle shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed in fiberboard boxes that will assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
