COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
GRADUATE, LIQUID, LABORATORY, (Corrosion Resisting)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-G-36614.
This commercial item description covers one type of corrosion resisting laboratory graduate container.
Salient characteristics:
The Type I graduate shall be supplied without a handle, and the Type II shall be supplied with a handle. The Size 1 shall have a capacity of 500 milliliters (ml), and the Size 2 graduate shall have a capacity of 1000 ml.

The graduates shall have a minimum thickness of .014 inches (28 Gauge) and .013 (29 Gauge) for Type I and II respectively, fabricated from corrosion resisting steel. The graduates shall be uniform in construction and free from surface imperfections.
The bottoms of the type I and II graduates shall be circular and perpendicular to the vertical axis. Graduate bottoms that are concave shall be acceptable. The sides of the graduates shall taper upward from the bottoms (i.e. away from the vertical axis towards the top edge). The upper edges of the graduates shall be flared outward and shall have a pour-out spout. For the type II graduate, a handle shall be attached to the body at the end opposite the spout. The handle shall be attached by spot welding or resistance welding. Welds shall be as strong as the parent material.
The nominal dimensions for the overall height and base diameter of the size 1 graduate shall be 4-9/16 and 2-7/8 inches respectively. The width of the top edge along the symmetrical axis shall be 3-5/8 inches. The nominal dimensions for the overall height and base diameter of the size 2 graduate shall be 5-1/2 and 3-13/16 inches respectively. The width of the top edge along the symmetrical axis shall be 4-13/16 inches. All dimensions shall be ± 1/16 inch.
